This event is limited to Freshmen and Sophomores. A student presents a memorized speech written by another orator.
- Students have 10 minutes (with a 30 second grace period).
- An introduction is memorized and must contain information about the author and original setting for the speech. It lasts no longer than 60 seconds.
- The student has chosen a speech previously given by another person and memorized it. The competitor’s presentation is an interpretation of the meaning of the message of the original speech.
- The judge should critique the delivery of the speech not its content.
Thanks to everyone for a great 2020-2021 tournament season! We did a great job meeting the challenge of conducting tournaments online. Congratulations to those who qualified for the Metro Championship, and we look forward to seeing all of you (virtually) at the Championship tournament and at Nationals.
